Osaka, the former world number one, showed consistency in her game during the clash and she committed just eight unforced errors. Rogers has committed 27.
Winner of two Grand Slam tournaments, including the United States Open in 2018, Osaka will now have a date with another American, Jennifer Brady.
Brady advanced to the next round after disposing of Yulia Putintseva 6-3, 6-2.
Brady, the 28the seed, dominated his opponent from the back of the field in his first quarterfinal match in a career Grand Slam tournament. She quickly took control 4-0 in the first set, and 2-0 in the second against Putintseva, who had won their two previous encounters.
The main interested party said that her good start to the match had helped her.
“I was nervous. And I think she does too, Brady said. I was trying to tell myself that it was a first-round game, and I was happy with the start of my meeting. Then, I was able to develop my rhythm, and build on it. ”
Brady, who is 25, is fighting his 13e major tournament and she is a seed for the first time in her career.
She has an impressive arsenal, especially in terms of her power in forehand and backhand, as well as in service. She slammed 22 winning shots, compared to seven for Putintseva, and mentioned that she had triumphed by limiting the duration of the rally with Putintseva.
“I followed her game plan the last few times I played against her,” Brady said. I don’t think I’m more mobile than her, so I decided to be a lot more aggressive today. ”
