“Nantes to distribute free tap aerators to residents for water savings”

In September 2022, Johanna Rollandmayor of Nantes (Loire-Atlantique), unveiled a plan of 10 measures to accelerate the city’s adaptation to climate change.

Among these measures, the free distribution of tap aerators for all homes in Nantes was announced to allow residents to carry out water savings.

How to get your foamers back?

The city of Nantes invites all inhabitants to recover these foamers from May 2 to July 8, 2023, within the limit of two per household :

• Near the Tri’Sac stands.
• From 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays, 50 distribution points will open in turn. Click here to find them.
• On presentation of an identity document and proof of address.

Save up to 60% of tap water

“The aerator is used to add air to the water. (…) The action has the effect of making the water “foam”, explains Izy by EDF. The system “channels the flow of water into a clean and very directive jet”. The system reduces the flow of water from the taps by about 60%.

This measure complements the assistance of 50 euros offered to individuals, effective in September, for the purchase of rainwater collectors.

How to install a frother?

The aerators are screwed inside (male aerators) or outside (female aerator) of the gooseneck, at the end of the pipe. The male mowers are “generally used for shower mixers”, while the female frothers “are more common in the kitchen,” explains Izy by EDF. Attention, different diameters exist.
