The Canaries were hot until the end of the endless ten minutes of added time, but achieved a small feat on Thursday, February 16. FC Nantes went for a draw on the lawn of Juventus Turin (1-1) in the first leg of the Europa League final phase. Ludovic Blas responded at the start of the second period (60th) to the goal scored early in the game by Dusan Vlahovic (13th).
21 years after the club’s last European Cup finals match, the people of Nantes lived up to the challenge. Antoine Kombouaré’s players still suffered and can thank their goalkeeper Alban Lafont, even the VAR. In the last moments of the match, the referee even went to consult the video assistance for a potential penalty for Juventus. Fortunately for the Canaries, a foul from a player of the Old Lady was whistled, relieving the Nantes supporters present in the stadium. The latter will be able to celebrate in a week in Nantes on the occasion of a return match that a whole people is already waiting for.
