He narrowly escaped it. An alcoholic young man was rescued on the night of Thursday September 30 to Friday 1is October 2021 after falling into the Loire at the banana shed, In Nantes (Loire Atlantique).
According to Civil Protection, which recounted the rescue operation on social networks, the party animal who wanted to relieve his bladder passed “over the protective barriers” before falling about ten meters.
“We kept visual and vocal contact with the victim”
Clinging to a submerged post, the Nantais managed to catch a floating rope launched by Thomas, station manager that evening on the Quai des Antilles: “I threw the end, the young man grabbed it and put it around his arm. It was now secure. “
As he was very drunk, however, he found it difficult to hold on. One of the rescuers picked up a lifeline from the Warehouse nightclub and passed it to me to throw at the victim who was able to slip inside. Throughout the intervention, we kept visual and vocal contact with the victim. We advised her to kick her legs to stay awake and warm up.
Picked up by the fire engine
The firefighters arrived a few minutes later by boat and picked up the young man alive.
Placed at the level of the Fernand-Crouan quay footbridge, it was transported to Nantes University Hospital. Unscathed but with great fear.
