Nantes-Atlantique Airport: where is the file? – Town of Rezé

November 24, 2023: public meeting in Rezé

Health: which airport do we want for tomorrow?
To question together about the future of Nantes-Atlantique, the mayor of Rezé, Agnès Bourgeais, and the deputy of the 4e constituency of Loire-Atlantique, Julie Laernoes, invite citizens to a public meeting Friday November 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Auditorium de Rezé. There will be present: mayors from different municipalities in the metropolis, deputies as well as associations or groups of citizens. “This time for discussion will allow everyone to present their vision of the airport of tomorrow”says Agnès Bourgeais.

Two round tables
The public meeting will take the form of two round tables: the first will focus on the risks and opportunities of canceling the call for tenders; the second will question the future: “Nantes Atlantique in 2040: what social project do we want? »
At the end of these round tables, a call will be launched to all those who wish to sign a public contribution.

November 16, 2023: stricter curfew, no lengthening of the runway, increased compensation

Traveling to Nantes on November 16 for the 2e airport committee, the Minister of Transport, Clément Beaune, made several announcements to elected officials:

  • A more strictly enforced curfew with higher fines for companies that violate it
  • No extension of the curfew from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • No lengthening of the track
  • No modification of air corridors
  • Compensation for local residents affected by increased nuisances (+25%)

“While these announcements are a good start, we have not obtained any concrete progress in favor of the health of residents near the airport. I therefore reiterated to the minister my request to extend this curfew and to cap the number of flights. These strong measures are essential and I will continue to make this request to the State. »

September 29, 2023: the State cancels the call for tenders

On September 29, 2023, the State canceled the call for tenders to renew the concession contract for Nantes Atlantique airport, due to lack of competition. The new operator was to be responsible for modernizing the airport. Since then, the Minister of Transport, Clément Beaune, has met with the region’s elected officials and has committed to relaunching a new call for tenders by the end of the year.
