Guillaume Saurina, the man who, a month ago, led Nantes to the greatest result in its history, victory in the European League (C2), will still be on the NAHB bench next season. The former scorer (39), who was at the end of his contract this summer, extended his lease on Wednesday for three more years, until 2024.

Arrived at the club in 2018 as an assistant to the Danish Allan Heine, Saurina had been propelled number one from the latter, in the summer of 2020.

A first season beyond expectations
He will have succeeded in his first season beyond expectations. If the club did not progress in the Championship (5th after 4th place last year), it reached the final of the Coupe de France for the first time (defeat against Brest, 33-37) and therefore won the timpani in the European Cup, one of the most beautiful titles ever obtained by a French women’s club.

On the floor, Saurina will no longer benefit from the privileged relay of his companion, Camille Ayglon. The 2017 world champion and 2018 European champion has just ended her career.
