There is no one who does not dream in his sleep, and some dreams haunt us even after waking up. Some others we don’t remember. Dreams are generally said to occur just before deep sleep at night. In his interpretations of dreams, Freud also mainly deals with such dreams. Apart from night dreams we also have day dreams. Daydreams are often dreamlike thoughts, although they cannot be called dreams at all.
Abhiram M Ajay, Clinical Psychologist and Assistant Professor at JSS Medical College, Mysore, says that daydreams are not like night dreams, and day dreams are more closely related to reality. Such thoughts are visualized in the same way as a dream. It is not really the dream, but the thoughts that form within that man. If so, daydreaming gives visual language to those thoughts. The Mammootty-Lijo Jose Pellissery collaboration film is continuing to run in theatres. The film has been receiving good response since the day of its release. The film follows the changes that happen to a man named James during his journey back home after the Velankanni pilgrimage. ‘Nan Pagal Nereth Mayakam’ begins with all the characters dozing off half way through the journey.
An ad is now going viral on social media with the caption ‘Ad image that inspired Lijo to make a good day’. The ad opens with a Sikh boy traveling on a bus with his parents. On his journey, he sees a Tamil house and his appearance changes. He was speaking in Sikh language and asked him to stop the car in Tamil. The boy who enters saying it is my house sits on the armchair of his dead grandfather. The ad ends with the grandmother of the house calling Sammy approaching the boy who has the same body language as her husband.
The caption accompanying the social media posts says that Lijo said at the IFFK venue that he was inspired to do good day by this ad for Glenply Plywood, and at the very beginning of the film he expresses his gratitude for the ad. Mammootty is changing from James by day to handsome by day. James goes to Sundaram’s house and behaves like him, wearing his clothes and going all the way he goes.
Mammootty’s performance is the same as the entire audience who watched the film. The audience says that Lijo has taken away the actor from Mammootty and Nan Pakal is a beautiful film like a dream. It is the life of people of the same nature, living in different countries at the same time. As we live here, another lives elsewhere. Just as we drink tea, as we comb our hair, as we tell news, as we laugh, think of another person living in an unknown land in an unknown language with a name that is not ours.
What will be the difference between us and them! Yeh…your head swells when you think about it…then what would it be like if he came alive one day in front of the people who are waiting for someone who has not returned for years? Some people are waiting for his husband, son, father or lover.
