It’s no secret: the French spend many hours browsing the Internet and especially on social networks.
So when the City of Nancy asked the municipal police of develop its outreach, Vincent Martin, Senior Chief Brigadier, also deputy to the manager of the operational center of the municipal police of Nancy, immediately thought of social networks. And, in particular, to Facebook et Twitter.
A project validated by the hierarchy of Vincent Martin and the City of Nancy, as evidenced by Lionel Adam, deputy in charge of security, cleanliness and public tranquility : “I validated this idea 1000%! Not only because it is beneficial for the citizens but also because it gives a sympathetic side to the municipal police, whose actions, like those of the national police for that matter, are often overlooked.
Prevention, controls and practical IT
In addition to the importance of a physical presence with citizens, as underlined Laurent Pruvost, responsible for the municipal police of the ducal city“existing in the digital space is today an asset”.
Within the municipal police, three agents will manage social networks, in conjunction with the department dedicated to communication of the City of Nancy. Two types of publications will be offered: scheduled publications, including everything related to prevention, planned checks or practical information such as: the streets where parking will be prohibited on July 14. But, also, instant publications, in particular in the event of a serious accident, gas leak, fire or the establishment of a diversion. For us, it will also be an opportunity to highlight other actions than those traditionally assimilated to the municipal police, namely verbalization mainly.
Since the arrival of the municipal police on Facebook and Twitter on July 6, several pieces of information for residents have already been relayed. In particular the disruptions linked to the Tour de France but also the speed checks planned this week in Nancy.
Closing mailboxes
For the moment, the municipal police warn that these are places of descending exchanges. In other words: Internet users will not be able to exchange directly with agents thanks to private messaging since these have been deactivated.
In the event of a large-scale accident, for example, a publication will be relayed on Facebook and Twitter. But it would be impossible for the municipal police officers to answer all the questions of the users. Hence the closing of mailboxes.
So, if you were to contact the municipal police of Nancy, it would be grateful if you could dial 03.83.45.32.32.
