Nancy. Poirel welcomes Alexandre Kantorow

When, on June 27, 2019, Alexander Kantorow, then 22 years old, won the gold medal (as well as the Grand Prize) of the prestigious Tchaikovsky competition in Moscow, it was a thunderclap in the world of the piano. He was indeed the first Frenchman to reach this inaccessible star, a symbol of the extraordinary quality of the young generation of performers that we currently know in France.

A few weeks after his Moscow success, Kantorow told our colleagues of Release : “The competition opened a window for me. The visibility will last for a few years, it is necessary to take advantage of it to show that the jury has not made a mistake. So far, I trust myself and see what happens. If it’s too complicated, I’ll stop. »

Monday, March 6 at 8:30 p.m., the public at the Salle Poirel in Nancy will have the opportunity to check that the Kantorow window is still wide open. The program of his recital is attractive. We will be able to hear Brahms’ Sonata No. 1, Schubert’s Wanderer Fantaisie and a few lieder by the same Schubert transcribed for the piano by the best Liszt.

Ticket prices: adults: cat A €49, cat B €42 – Under 18s, students under 26: €10 (on proof). Reservation: www.poirel.nancy.fr
