When, on June 27, 2019, Alexander Kantorow, then 22 years old, won the gold medal (as well as the Grand Prize) of the prestigious Tchaikovsky competition in Moscow, it was a thunderclap in the world of the piano. He was indeed the first Frenchman to reach this inaccessible star, a symbol of the extraordinary quality of the young generation of performers that we currently know in France.
A few weeks after his Moscow success, Kantorow told our colleagues of Release : “The competition opened a window for me.
