Nancy Drolet candidate in Rosemont / Petite-Patrie

FEDERAL ELECTIONS. Nancy Drolet launches into politics. La Drummondvilloise is a candidate for the Liberal Party of Canada in the riding of Rosemont / Petite-Patrie for the federal elections on September 20.

Nancy Drolet, 48 years old, has been involved in the business world in addition to giving conferences for several years. A resident of Repentigny, the former Olympic hockey player maintains that she is attached to this Montreal riding, in particular because her spouse has already lived there.

In an interview granted at Radio-Canada, Nancy Drolet described herself as a committed citizen. The mother of an 18-year-old boy also said she appreciates the policies of Justin Trudeau’s government towards women and the environment.

Nancy Drolet’s main rival will be Alexandre Boulerice, from the New Democratic Party, who has represented this constituency since 2011. During the last election, in 2019, the deputy was elected with a comfortable lead (42.3% of the votes) in front of the liberal Geneviève Hinse (24.1% of the vote).

Shophika Vaithyanathasarma (Bloc Québécois) and Jonathan Gélinas (People’s Party of Canada) are also candidates in Rosemont / Petite-Patrie. The Conservative Party has still not announced the identity of its candidate in this riding.

Six-time gold medalist at the Women’s World Hockey Championship between 1992 and 2001, Nancy Drolet also helped the Canadian team to a silver medal at the Olympic Games in Nagano, Japan, in 1998.
