Nanasi’s goal gave three points against Västerås

A cavalcade of goalscoring chances and in the end it would pay dividends going forward. Sebastian Nanasi saved MFF when he became the match’s only goalscorer at home against Västerås SK.

Key events

1′ Kick-off at Eleda Stadium.

6′ Nice play combination between Taha Ali and Sebastian Nanasi which leads to a left corner. On the corner that follows, Lasse Berg Jonhnsen gets a chance to shoot, but the visitors’ goalkeeper makes a sharp save.

23′ Sebastian Nanasi takes the surface with the ball in the offensive half of the pitch. Slips a ball in for Kiese Thelin, who finishes off a strike. New save from VSK’s goalkeeper.

25′ Stryger Larsen with an overlap on the right wing. Pulls down to the short line and finds the forehead of Erik Botheim but the header goes over.

31′ Derek Cornelius fills in an attack and tries a finish from distance. It is distinct and well placed but yet another fine save from the visitors’ goalkeeper puts an end to a sky blue lead goal.

35′ Again many sky blue players in the offensive penalty area when the ball finally lands with Erik Botheim who is millimeters from giving MFF the lead.

40′ Sebastian Nanasi looks for the gap at the far post, but the Västerås goalkeeper has time to get down and parry.

48′ The second half begins as the first ended, with a finish from distance that the VSK goalkeeper steers away with his fingertips. Erik Bothheim is responsible for the finish this time.

58′ Sebastian Nanasi dribbles past his defender and finishes from a tight angle. The keeper releases the rebound and Botheim is there and bumps the ball which is shoveled away on the goal line by a defender.

62′ Västerås comes to a post position from the right wing and Johan Dahlin is allowed to stretch out.

76′ Again the ball dances on the goal line as Derek Cornelius heads high for a corner.

82′ GOAL! Sebastian Nanasi breaks in from the left wing and taps in 1-0 at the front post.

HENRIK RYDSTRÖM AFTER THE MATCH

– Very satisfied with how we ensure that we win this match. On an individual level, we make a weak performance. I said to the players at half-time that it looks like we were hoping it would work out without us having to step in. That’s not a state or feeling we want to convey. The way Västerås defends, there are a lot of chaotic situations and in far too many situations Västerås came out with the ball. A better team than Västerås had punished us.

– Then I think we create enough to still say okay, we win this match and it’s not unfair. Their goalkeeper makes some great saves. I am satisfied that we are making sure that we win the game. But we are far from satisfied with how we played. You have to make sure you find ways anyway.
