We are talking about accidents that killed both drivers and passengers of vehicles, as well as pedestrians.
Since the beginning of 2021, the largest number of fatal road traffic accidents have been recorded in the Dnipropetrovsk region. About it reported Prosecutor General of Ukraine Irina Venediktova during a visiting meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement Activities.
As indicated, in the second place in the list is the Lviv region, in the third – the Kharkiv region, in the fourth – the Kiev region.
According to Venediktova, we are talking about an accident, as a result of which both drivers and passengers of vehicles and pedestrians died.
“Why do these deaths happen? Four top reasons, which are given to us by specific statistics: in the first place – exceeding a safe speed (over a thousand fatalities), in the second – violation of maneuvering rules, in the third – leaving the oncoming lane and in the fourth – crossing pedestrians in an unidentified place, “- listed the Attorney General.
She noted that, in her opinion, figurines at the crossing and good lighting of pedestrian crossings are effective measures to reduce accidents involving pedestrians.
Recall that three bills were submitted to the Verkhovna Rada, reinforcing criminal liability for an accidentthat caused the death of people. The documents propose, in particular, to increase the term of imprisonment of the perpetrators of such accidents.
