The EC website explains that the EU digital Covid certificate is digital proof that a person has been vaccinated against Covid-19, has had a negative test result or has recovered from Covid-19.

The EC also noted that the EU digital Covid certificate contains the necessary basic information – name, surname, date of birth, date of issue of the certificate, relevant information about the vaccine, test or recovery and a unique identifier.

This data remains on the certificate and is not stored or retained when the certificate is verified in another Member State.
