Najwa Shihab refuses to reveal the identity of PSSI’s League 2 scorer

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Journalist Najwa Shihab stated refusing to reveal the identity of the source score setting which aired on the program Mata Najwa episode ‘PSSI Can What’ volume 6′.

Najwa’s statement was in response to PSSI’s plan to take legal action to obtain the identity of the scorer who testified and aired on Mata Najwa.

“I refuse the request because I respect the right of the source who wishes to be anonymous,” said Najwa on her official Instagram @najwashihab, quoted on Sunday (7/11).

Najwa explained that Law (UU) No. 40 of 1999 on the Press gave the press the “right to refuse”.

The right to refuse, said Najwa, is the right of journalists to refuse to reveal the names or other identities of the news sources. He reminded that the right to refuse attached to journalistic work is not haphazardly given to the press.

In addition to being regulated by law, the right to refuse is also contained in the Journalistic Code of Ethics which has been ratified by the Press Council, which aims to protect the safety of sources and their families.

“So, this right to refuse is indeed to guarantee press freedom, it also allows the press to reach important information that may never be disclosed to the public if the sources do not receive adequate protection,” he said.

On the other hand, Najwa explained that the program Mata Najwa since the last 10 years has often raised the issue of alleged scandals that occurred at PSSI. Since the leadership of Nurdin Halid until now, it is considered very complicated. “And make it stuffy,” he said.

He said the episode ‘PSSI Can What Volume 6’ was a criticism of PSSI. PSSI, he said, actually has abundant resources, sufficient access to fix football chaos, including in fixing the score.

He also said that the perpetrators who had been sanctioned in the Perserang case were sufficient as an entry point to search down to the roots.

“That the police must play their role is very clear, as clear as the roles and responsibilities that PSSI should fulfill,” said Najwa.

Previously, the Chairman of the PSSI Refereeing Committee Ahmad Riyadh had plans to take legal action to obtain the identity of the scorer who was broadcast on TV Mata Najwa episode ‘PSSI Can What Volume 6’.

In the program entitled ‘PSSI Can What Volume 6: Again and Again’, the referee who uses the pseudonym Mr. Y revealed that the alleged practice of match-fixing also occurred in Liga 1 for the 2021-2022 season.
