Suara.com – Candidates for Mayor of Solo Gibran Rakabuming Raka looked confused when answering the presenter’s questions Najwa Shihab related reasons forward Solo City Pilkada.

This happened when Gibran was a speaker at the event Mata Najwa entitled ‘Fight Throne in Central Pandemi ‘posted on Trans7 on Wednesday (30/9/2020) night.

Initially, Najwa Shihab gave an old video containing Gibran’s statement at the end of 2018.

In the video, Gibran admits that he is interested in politics but does not want to join in the near future.

The eldest son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that in about 20 years Gibran might want to enter politics.

However, only almost two years after giving this statement, Gibran is now running for the Solo City Pilkada to fight for the number one seat in Solo.

“At that time, Mas Gibran said he was interested (in politics) but it is still 20 years away. Suddenly he was running for mayor. What has changed, Mas Gibran?” asked Najwa as quoted Suara.com, Thursday (1/10/2020).

Gibran immediately answered smoothly. He emphasized that his intention is still the same as before, wanting to benefit many people.

“Nothing has changed, my intention is still the same. I used to be a businessman so that I could be of benefit to many people. Now going into politics the intention is still the same. My intention is to be of benefit to even more people,” Gibran replied.

Getting a response from Gibran, Najwa asked about the time to go into politics that was faster than Gibran’s previous statement.

“The time frame has changed. At that time, it said it would be 20 years. Now it suddenly (jumped). What made the time frame change so quickly?” asked Najwa.

Getting a question from Najwa, Gibran was silent for a few seconds. He seemed to be looking for the right answer to Najwa’s question.

Gibran argued that the reason for getting into politics was earlier than expected was because he felt he was ready.

“Hmmm yes .. What is clear is that, sis, my intention is still equally beneficial to many people. If the time frame is accelerated, maybe because I feel ready now,” said Gibran.

Najwa had questioned the encouragement of Jokowi, his father, to advance in the Pilkada so as to speed up the time to get into politics.

Gibran quickly denied this. He emphasized that the decision to run as a candidate for Mayor of Solo was his own wish.

“There are no orders, no encouragement. This is purely my own wish. Two years ago I said I was interested, so I went forward,” said Gibran.
