The Movistar Team’s aspirations for the 2024 Vuelta a España are more alive than ever with the presence of Enric Mas.
The Spanish cyclist is among the first in the general classification and although he has important figures such as Primož Roglič ahead of him, he hopes to achieve at least a podium finish at the end of the 21 stages.
In light of this, Enric has become the rider most protected by Movistar and its teammates, including Nairo Quintana.
And with the recent retirements caused by Covid-19, added to the imminent presence of this virus within the peloton, Movistar does not want any surprises and that is why it was one of the first teams to take measures in response to this situation.

For several stages now, not only the riders, but also all the Movistar staff, have been wearing face masks before and after each stage to avoid possible infection.
“It’s better to be safe than sorry, because this virus affects cyclists more than in other sports. We were the first and now more teams are wearing masks,” the Spanish team said in statements reported by the newspaper As.
In addition to the mandatory use of masks for all members of the squad, it was decided that interviews with the press during the race would be virtual to avoid close contact with the journalists and cameramen present.
To date, five riders have had to abandon the 2024 Vuelta a España after testing positive for Covid-19.
