Naidenov Brothers: Take us off the Magnitsky list, since 2020 we have no business with Vasil Bozhkov

Tsvetomir Naidenov

Brothers Boyan and Tsvetomir Naydenovi and their father Boyan, owners of Efbet, have asked the finance ministry to remove them from the list of people who are sanctioned under the Magnitsky law. This is clear from a letter from the three businessmen to the media.

They point out that the list also includes individuals who fall within the scope of the sanctions as partners, shareholders, managers and members of management and control bodies for the last 5 years in companies also listed in the list of sanctions. There are 83 companies associated with Vasil Bozhkov and 11 with Delyan Peevski.

Naidenovs say that this period should not cover them as well, as they have terminated all relations with the “Magnitsky” persons affected by the law. Since March 2020, they have not been partners, shareholders, managers or members of management bodies. The three initiated long before the measures under the “Magnitsky” law actions for accusing Vasil Bozhkov of corruption and criminal acts with a risk to their security and business.

They also claim that against the background of their unfair inclusion in this list, the lack of a number of names who are active partners of the sanctioned persons at the moment or in a period much closer to the present than their partnership was even more impressive. Naidenov said their inclusion on the list was an alarming signal that a dignified civil position and action against corruption and lawlessness could turn to the detriment of those who took it.
