reported Reuters, Tuesday (3/1/2023) The FAA and the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash that killed the crew working under the American Airlines Group. The unfortunate incident occurred at the Montgomery Regional Airport in Alabama, where the American Airlines regional flight was parked.
Initial investigations revealed that the worker died in an accident, where he was blocked by a running aircraft engine. The airport said only that a worker of Piedmont Airlines, another regional subsidiary of American Airlines Group, died but did not provide further details.
The American said in a statement that he was devastated by the crash.
“We are focused on ensuring that everyone involved has the support they need during this difficult time,” the airline said. They have so far declined to comment further on the follow-up investigation.
When this incident occurred, the airport was closed for several hours. Quoted from CBS NewsMontgome Regional Airport said the airport worker died around 3 PM.
“We are saddened to learn of the tragic loss of an AA/Piedmont Airlines team member,” airport executive director Wade Davis said in a statement.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.” she added.
The airport said in a Twitter post that normal operations resumed at 8:30pm. As is an FAA investigation into the incident.
