“Naguib Sawiris talks expanding Egypt’s sugar industry and conversion of light transportation to electricity”

Engineer Naguib Sawiris, a businessman, commented on a company’s use of his name and image to promote it, saying: “The lesson is that whoever wants to believe, we will not walk behind each one and swear to him that you didn’t say it, and when I found something like all of it, I sold it to lawyers with awareness and we will file a case against them.”

Sawiris added, in a telephone interview to the “Hazrat Al-Citizen” program on “Al-Hadath Al-Youm” TV channel, on Tuesday evening: “My latest project is to think about expanding the field of sugar, and I submitted a study and a proposal in that, which I hope will be accepted, because the population is increasing and the global price of sugar has increased. It is a product that we produce in Egypt, from beet cultivation to the final product, all its inputs are in Egypt, and it is possible that if its production increases, it will be exported and bring dollars to Egypt.”

He continued, “We are continuing our real estate projects despite the price increase by contractors, and the price of iron has risen alongside cement, and real estate prices have become unaffordable to all people, and all of this will be solved, but the most important thing is not to suffocate with each other, and to stand together.”

And about the project to convert light means of transportation to electricity, he replied, saying: “They announced it yesterday, and I do not like to announce a need unless we implement it, but it is a project that will change the face of Egypt and purify the atmosphere completely, and we will get rid of the issue of tuk-tuks without supervision, and they will all remain with electricity and will not harm the environment.” The batteries will be distributed to the youth, and we will make a very awesome leap.”

And he added that the project of converting light means of transportation to work with electricity cost hundreds of millions and hard currency as well, and God willing, we will be able to manage it because the return for it is large, given the savings on the cost of gasoline that we import, and its foreign component will be only once, and we do not want anything else.
