Business leaders know it. So when Nadine Baptiste, president of the Montpellier commercial court, praises the merits of her goddaughter, Nadine Thomas, president of the LMP group, we gladly believe her. “She shows enthusiasm, vision and human qualities that are very important in a business leader! It’s a difficult job, you need courage and energy”. De facto, Nadine Thomas does not miss it. Today at the head of three companies, next year she will launch an Academy of hospitality professions in Montferrier-sur-Lez, “a school of know-how and smiles”.
“We have the equivalent of 80 full-time workers. Whether it’s my children or my employees, I’m concerned about transmission. I want to prove to them that we can do everything head-on, with envy , curiosity and elegance”.
“Helping business leaders anticipate the possible”
After having exercised many positions of responsibility, in particular in the banking sector, Nadine Baptiste could have flowed a peaceful retirement. But when a colleague offers her to become a judge at the Montpellier commercial court, she gladly accepts. And a few years later, here she was elected president of the court, and even re-elected, in December 2022. As a volunteer, she placed her mandate under the sign of prevention.
“We help business leaders anticipate possible difficulties (cash flow, loss of customers, unpaid bills, rising raw material prices)” she explains. Little is known, but the president of the Commercial Court has an active role in detecting the difficulties of companies, as early as possible, by promoting their treatment through amicable procedures, when they are possible and appropriate.
The key to its success? “I am a hard worker, I am respected” she smiled. “And what righteousness!” adds her goddaughter.
