After six months in the Ministry of Justice, Nadezhda Yordanova apparently still cannot understand her duties as a minister. Instead of looking for ways to ensure dialogue and cooperation between the various authorities, Yordanova continues to experience herself as a lobbyist for accused and accused oligarchs, not failing to attack magistrates. And, if until yesterday the target of her attacks were mainly representatives of the state prosecution and personally the chief prosecutor, then the self-forgotten Minister of Justice has already begun to allow herself to attack judges.
On Tuesday, the former head of the cabinet of another “offshoot” in the Ministry of Justice – the failed Minister Hristo Ivanov, opened the doors of the boardroom in his office for… Gosho from “BOEC”. For an hour Nadezhda Yordanova explained to Tsvetan Vassilev’s deputy. The fact that the pawn of a fugitive banker – Georgi Georgiev is a welcome guest in the Ministry of Justice, in itself shows the heavy dependence of the executive branch on the oligarchic backstage. The absurd thing in this case is that as Minister of Justice, Nadezhda Yordanova allows herself to comment on the pending criminal case for the bankruptcy of the CCB pyramid, with the main defendant Tsvetan Vassilev.
That is the only reason why in every state governed by the rule of law, which respects the principle of “rule of law”, Yordanova had to resign today. Receiving in your office in the justice department the speaker of a defendant for the bankruptcy of the largest financial pyramid in our country is not just a manifestation of bad taste or political weakness, it is a demonstration of arrogance and self-forgetfulness.
In the dialogue with the “street fighter” Gosho from Vidin, Yordanova admits something unthinkable for a democratic society. The Minister of Justice hints that he is preparing a request for disciplinary proceedings against a Bulgarian judge who has allowed himself to criticize the lobbying amendment that the Quartet Coalition passed through parliament, namely the liquidation of special justice bodies in the service of accused and accused sponsors.
Nadezhda Yordanova explains to Georgi Georgiev that the Ministry of Justice is investigating the possibility of seeking punishment against the judge of the Specialized Criminal Court Vilislava Angelova, who warned three months ago in the parliamentary debates that if the state throws special magistrates on the street, organized crime will not hesitate to shelter them.
Thus, Judge Angelova made the most accurate diagnosis of the “disease” of the judiciary in our country – the intervention of politicians who already allow themselves to threaten the magistrates. In fact, the words of Judge Vilislava Angelova, who simply tried to protect the honor of the institution and her colleagues from government repression, turned out to be the explanation for the real reason for the closure of specialized bodies – a favor to the oligarchs who raised the Quadruple Coalition.
And is the Minister of Justice aware that neither she, nor the commissioned protesters, nor any other representative of the government have the right to prosecute magistrates for expressing an opinion and that this borders on fascism !? No, Nadezhda Yordanova cannot promise Tsvetan Vassilev’s servant that she will deal with uncomfortable magistrates who oppose the intentions for their personal and professional crushing. And yes, Yordanova’s actions are a direct violation of the rule of law and can be seen as unlawful pressure on the independence of the judiciary.
However, why did the Deputy Minister of Justice and former judge, Angelova’s colleague Emil Dechev, who is now part of Yordanova’s team, remain silent about her comments during the unfortunate meeting with Gosho from BOEC. How will Dechev look at his colleagues from the court tomorrow, when he will no longer be a deputy minister, since he is part of the team of a minister who takes “promises” of self-dispute with a magistrate? Where is Hristo Ivanov, who has long held the position of “flag of judicial reform” and the rule of law.
As such, Hristo Ivanov defended the independence of the judges! Where are the former chairman of the Union of Judges in Bulgaria Kalin Kalpakchiev and the current Tatiana Zhilova? Are they not the greatest defenders of the independence of judges and defenders of their honor from external and internal attacks on the system? They are gone, we will not see them – because their job is, like Yordanova’s, to be activated when the puppeteers order them.
And since she has already clearly proved that she is only an executor of a foreign scenario, the Minister of Justice Nadezhda Yordanova must be careful in her meetings and not so brave in the promises she makes. In order not to end up one day on the dock in front of Judge Vilislava Angelova, on which it will then depend who will receive what punishments and for what. Because one thing is clear – Yordanova herself gives irrefutable evidence of her addictions, and her current guarantors are unlikely to save her from the blows of the law.
