The ATP Cup national team competition is scheduled to return for a second edition, February 1-5. This year’s tournament, played at Melbourne Park, will feature 12 teams, up from 18 in 2020.
Ranking is determined by the highest ranked singles player in the country. So the United States, whose best male player is John Isner at 25th, is not fielding a team.
Still, with all the Top 15 stars except Roger Federer, the lineup is sure to impress. Here’s the mix of established stars and RPGs that will be joining the limelight in just a few weeks:

Austria, which features new top champion Dominic Thiem, as well as Dennis Novak and stunt specialists Philipp Oswald and Tristan-Samuel Weissborn.
Russia, home to the double threat of Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev, as well as Aslan Karatsev and Evgeny Dosnkoy.

Japan, with Kei Nishikori and Yoshihito Nishioka, plus doubles players Ben McLachlan and Toshihide Matsui.
Canada, loaded with Denis Shapovalov and Milos Raonic, plus Peter Polansky and Steven Diez.

The inaugural event in 2020 saw Novak Djokovic’s Serbian team defeat Rafael Nadal’s Spanish team in the final. With another highly successful course, the tournament could once again be an exciting start to the next season.
