The Minister of Health of the province, Ana Mara Nadal, signed this Tuesday a resolution in which the prohibition of performing scheduled surgeries in all health establishments in the province.
This extreme decision, which was originated in the increase in Covid 19 cases suffered by the province, should enter into force as soon as it is published in the Official Gazette. But before this happened, the resolution was suppressed.
The resolution 1718 it had already been notified in the field of health. But it was causing complaints and reactions in private clinics before it went into effect. Some mayors also criticized her harshly. For all that, the prohibition it was without effect.
“It was thought to be more comprehensive and think not only of the metropolitan area, but also of the South, the East and others, that is why they left it without effect and another resolution is being drafted, “they explained from the Ministry of Health.
The scheduled surgeries have been reduced since the end of June, with the aim of having increased hospitalization capacity for COVID-19 patients, both in the therapy areas and in the common rooms.
First he limited them to 30 percent of available beds (Resolution 926 of June 30). And then him July 22, he lowered them further, to a maximum of “15 percent utilization of the establishment’s total beds” (resolution 1628).
The resolution that Nadal had signed on Tuesday said that “despite the two preceding reductions and due to the increase in Covid-19 cases in the province, It is essential to take new measures, in order to be prepared to face the Pandemic“.
The emergency of the health system, at least in part of the province, was evident in the article 2 of the annulled resolution: “Arrange the prohibition to perform scheduled surgeries in all health establishments in the province that have hospitalization, both from the public subsector and the private subsector.
However, in the end, the indispensable measure will be slowed down and reformulated. This newspaper was able to verify that a good part of the criticism came from the private clinics of San Rafael, to which the prohibition of performing surgeries it impacted them economically. Also, today, San Rafael does not need beds for Covid-19 cases because still does not have a single positive case.
The mayor of the department, Emir Flix, He had also complained about the ban because he believed it was already in effect, something that ultimately did not happen.
