Nadal and Alcaraz will lead Spain in the ‘Final 8’ of the Davis Cup

Paris., Tennis legend Rafael Nadal, along with world number three Carlos Alcaraz, will lead Spain in the ‘Final 8’ of the Davis Cup, the team captained by David Ferrer announced this Monday, regarding a final phase that will be held between 19 and on November 24 in Malaga.

Roberto Bautista, Pablo Carreño and Marcel Granollers, a doubles specialist, complete the powerful quintet that will seek to reconquer the Salad Bowl, won by Spain six times: 2000, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2019.

Host of the ‘Final 8’, Spain faces the Netherlands for a place in the semifinals. His rival will leave Canada-Germany.

On the other side of the draw, the winner of Italy-Argentina will play against the winner of the United States-Australia in the semifinals.

These eight nations qualified in the group stage that was played last week in Bologna, Manchester, Valencia and Zhuhai.

In recent weeks there has been speculation in the Spanish press that Nadal will say goodbye to the courts in this final phase of the Davis Cup, the tournament that served as a springboard for his explosion two decades ago, with the title won in Seville in 2004 against USA.

The 38-year-old tennis player, whose last appearance was the Paris Olympic Games, has left the door open to all possibilities.

The ‘Final 8’ of the Davis Cup will be held in Malaga, in the south of Spain, between November 19 and 24.
