N-VA moves to Vooruit in Zottegem and joins CD&V and Positive

Indeed, the local branch of Open VLD will have one elder with Marnic De Clercq. Party member Lieve Vander Hauwert will be chairman of the town council.

N-VA led by leader Matthias Diependaele, as the second largest party, received the right to campaign last week. He is now Prime Minister of the Flemish government. He will not be a mayor, but a town councillor. Evelien De Both is still mayor “and she will fully accept her role as mayor.”

The majority parties do not want to respond to the new coalition at this time. Ahead of the poll champion Kurt De Loor, who won the elections with 31.9 percent of the votes, he is willing to answer.

“Vooruit won the elections, but the three main new parties gave no chance to negotiate with Vooruit,” he replied. “In fact, they kept us on the line for two weeks and lied to us. Everything had already been settled between them and the posts had been distributed.”

“They haven’t started yet and apparently there are already leaks within the new coalition. That bodes well for the coming years. The electorate can count on us for a strong challenge but helpful,” concluded De Loor.
