“One of the facts about the Covid-19 vaccine that is very important is to build herd immunity,” said the former President Director of Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung.

Cissy also gave an example of the number of vaccines that have been used so far. According to him, such as the Polio, BCG, Measles, Influenza, Hepatitis B, Rubella, Dengue, PCV, Hib and HPV vaccines.

To date, there are 12 national immunization programs for children and toddlers that are provided free of charge. This type of vaccine is the most vulnerable is measles because it is easily transmitted.

“Advances in technology, large resources, and costs allow the acceleration of the process for finding a Covid-19 vaccine,” he said. In this research the phases can be carried out in parallel.

Cissy Kartasasmita stated that if many people refuse the Covid-19 vaccine it will hinder the development of herd immunity. In fact, herd immunity requires 70 percent of the total immunized population.
