Myths and Facts about Eclipse Baths for Pregnant Women in Islam

An eclipse itself is a phenomenon where the location of the moon, sun and earth are in a parallel position.

So that when a solar eclipse occurs, the sun’s light to earth will be blocked by the moon, causing the earth’s sky to become darker during an eclipse.

This unique phenomenon often has quite scary myths, one of which is for pregnant women.

Thus, there is a belief that when a lunar eclipse occurs, pregnant women are advised to take an eclipse bath.

TGH Lalu Husnan said, there is no recommendation in Islam to order a pregnant woman to bathe when there is a lunar eclipse.

“There is no suggestion that during a lunar eclipse, pregnant women should bathe in jeding, in a pond or in a well,” said TGH Lalu Husnan Sayuti.
