Police still don’t know exactly what happened in the home. “We still don’t know what caused the stabbing,” a spokesman said.
The suspect, a 27-year-old man from Edam-Volendam, was arrested near Betje Wolffplein and remains in custody.
Injured to hospital
The injured man called the emergency services in the supermarket and was helped by the shop staff. “He was taken to hospital and treated for his injuries,” said a police spokesman. He is said to have been released from the hospital by now.
A witness walked into the supermarket around that time yesterday afternoon and followed a trail of blood to the counter. “It started with a few drops, but it grew faster. Once at the counter I saw a boy with a wound on his head,” she said. “A Vomar employee covered the wound near his temple. The man was able to walk to the ambulance himself.”
The witness also saw the other man when she entered the supermarket. “They were still arguing and one of them yelled something like ‘You’re making me angry’ at the other.” -shop. “It was the busiest time of the day and there are small children in the queue too.”
The police are looking for witnesses and they hope to get more clarity about the situation.
