A mystery strike will take place on Wednesday in certain schools in the Gaspé.

Members of the Syndicate of Professionals of Gaspésie-les-Îles School Centers will picket in front of elementary and secondary schools in the territory in order to disrupt teaching activities.

Union members want to demonstrate their dissatisfaction with the slowness of negotiations and denounce the inequities between the public and the private sector. It is about increasing the balance of power. It is impossible to know which establishments will be targeted.

The president is aware that the time does not lend itself well to a disruption of school activities in the context of the pandemic. He explains that union members have no desire to go on strike, but the government would not give them a choice. It’s a half-day to make a long-term change:

In April, picket lines were organized in front of the administrative offices of the School Service Centers in several places in Quebec.

No school will be closed except primary schools which will only open in the afternoon. This demonstration is part of a major protest movement involving 10,000 workers which will shake up various Quebec school boards on Wednesday.
