The US police are investigating under high pressure: A schoolgirl has disappeared in Florida. A few days later, the main suspect, the caretaker of her apartment building, is found dead.
Investigators in the US federal state Florida are faced with a puzzle: The 19-year-old student Miya Marcano has been missing since last Friday. She was last seen on Friday afternoon at her place of residence, an apartment complex in the city of Orlando, CNN reported.
A little later, on Monday, Armando Caballero’s body was found in another apartment complex. The investigators suspect that Caballero, who was also the caretaker of the residential complex, may have had an interest in the young woman’s disappearance. They had been looking for him for several days and finally obtained an arrest warrant for burglary and theft against him because he was said to have broken into her apartment before the 19-year-old disappeared.
“We know that a master key that Caballero was known to owned was used to break into Marcano’s apartment at around 4:30 pm on Friday afternoon, about 30 minutes before she was due to finish her shift at the condominium. ” In the event of Caballero’s death, the investigators assume a suicide.
Police: “Miya is still missing”
The man had previously shown interest in the 19-year-old, but was rejected repeatedly, the police reported. In the first investigation into the woman’s disappearance, before his death, he had testified to the police that he had last seen Marcano at work at 3 p.m. Her father reported her missing that evening because she missed her flight home to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The evaluation of video recordings from the surveillance cameras in and around the building could, however, provide further clues about the disappearance of the young woman.
