Florida Woman Vanishes in the Heart of Manhattan While on Medical Transport
A concerning disappearance has gripped New York City, leaving authorities searching for answers in the case of 40-year-old Joslyn Garrido. Sent from Florida to NYC to visit her sister, Garrido vanished on November 25 around midnight from a private ambulance near the acclaimed Weill Cornell Medical Center on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
Adding to the mystery, Garrido escaped from the ambulance during rush hour traffic while being transferred from the Weill Cornell Medical Center to White Plains Hospital, just outside the hustle and bustle of the city.
“She was being transferred from Weill Cornell Medical Center to White Plains Hospital,” reported the New York Post. “While the ambulance was stopped in traffic, she escaped on foot.”
Details surrounding the circumstances of her escape remain unclear, raising concerns about the safety protocols within private medical transport companies.
Garrido, described as a woman of Hispanic origin with clear complexion, brown hair and brown eyes, is approximately 5’6" tall and weighs around 150 pounds.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) has released a photo of Garrido to the public, hoping someone may recognize her. With her disappearance occurring amidst the busy Upper East Side, known for its prestigious medical facilities and high-end residences, authorities are scouring the area but haven’t yet received any credible leads.
Garrido’s disappearance highlights vulnerabilities in patient transportation, particularly in metropolitan areas teeming with activity.
The NYPD is treating this as a missing persons case and urging anyone with information to contact them immediately.
