“It’s like a game”
On March 10, 2014, photographers Steve Douglas and Dean Muskett, along with other aerial observers, regularly spent time at Amarillo International Airport, Texas, watching military aircraft training flights. When we suddenly noticed three planes in the sky flying in formation at a high altitude.
One of the flying machines was behaving strangely – “it was moving after the rudder, as if it were playing.”
Douglas said the photographers thought they were shooting a B-2 Spirit, a flying wing strategic bomber. But, looking at the film more closely, we realized: this is a completely different thing. It was impossible to make out the details, but the shape of the glider was clearly visible – triangular. None of the winged vehicles are in service with the United States.
A little over a month later, on April 16, 2014, amateur photographer Jeff Templin captured a similar aircraft with a powerful 400mm lens. The flying triangle makes several S turns, leaving a way back.
Indirect signs
The journalists turned to officials for clarification. The US Air Force said the resolution of the images did not even allow for the conclusion that the planes were weapons. They declined further comment. The Federal Aviation Administration has admitted that it knows nothing about these devices. The CIA did not respond to requests for comment.
There were several indirect indications that the mysterious planes were weapons. Therefore, as a rule, civilians do not fly in formation.
The height at which the equipment was moved can only be confirmed. Backmarks are known to persist at levels above eight kilometers. Judging by the lines of thick moisture, the aircraft is of multi-engine construction.
And since the US administration does not encourage testing with drones in domestic airspace, it can be assumed that the devices were piloted. Another possibility is that the plane was accompanied by a UAV, experts note.
Roll up his neck
Taking a closer look at the images from Texas and Kansas, the authors of “Aviationist” suggest that the viewers noticed not one, but two separate “black projects” – as the recorded developments are called. The shapes of the objects were slightly different from each other.
Experts note: it seems that the mysterious planes are purposefully attracting the attention of the interested public. There have been suggestions that the Pentagon allowed the leak on purpose. The publication’s editor-in-chief David Cenciotti said the United States was deliberately “showing muscle” in this way – showing a “resurgent enemy” that it had an “ace up its sleeve”. In those days, Russia returned Crimea, and tensions in eastern Ukraine were growing.
The expert recalled that something similar happened in the late 1980s, when the US military first showed a retouched photo of the F-117 bomber.
Triangular planes have not been captured by designers since then. It is still unclear what exactly was seen in the skies over Kansas and Texas in 2014. According to one of the versions, it could be an A-12 “Avenger-II” deck bomber, and its development was stopped in 1991. Others suggest that the viewers filmed the drone RKu-170 “Sentinel”.
Finally, there is an idea that it is a strategic bomber B-21 Ryder or a fighter in the sixth generation, the silhouette of which was recently revealed on social networks. However, the outline of the mystery plane does not match any of these vehicles.
