A number of iPhones suffer from a bug that causes mysterious shutdowns at night
An unknown bug in iOS 17.0.3 is apparently to blame, but Apple has yet to comment on the issue
Apple doesn’t have a moment to rest. The problems with this year’s iPhone 15 are starting to show: you have easily scratched material, fragile glass on the back, overheating. In addition, there are strange problems with practically all iPhones with the latest iOS 17.0.3 update. Users report that their iPhones shut down for several hours overnight on the charger.
Another problem plagues iPhones
The server editor first came up with this problem 9to5Mac Zac Hall, who shared a screenshot of the battery settings on the X Network. It can be seen from the graph that the mobile phone turned off and did not work for a few hours despite being constantly connected to the charger. In the morning, the phone required entering a numerical code to unlock it, while at other times a facial scan using Face ID was sufficient.
Hall would not have noticed the problem himself, but he was alerted to a forum thread Reddit, where multiple users are reporting a similar problem. Sometimes it is a shutdown for a few hours, as in Hall’s case, other times it is even 4 hours.
The editorial iPhone was switched off for about 6 hours
Even more bizarre is that the problem affects not only the new generation iPhone 15, including the Pro and Pro Max models, but also older models. Affected users with iPhone 13, iPhone 14, even iPhone 12 Pro are reporting on Reddit and the X Network.
We also have a similar problem on the editorial iPhone 15 Pro. So it looks like the problem is on the side of the iOS 17.0.3 “fix update” originally. But you know when a forest is felled, chips fly, that is, when one problem is solved, a new one can suddenly arise.
How to check if the problem is happening to you?
On your iPhone, open Settings –> Battery and focus on the charging graph. The green lines symbolize the percentage of charge, the bottom line shows the time. If you encounter sudden outages of green lines in the graph, it may mean that your iPhone also turned off on its own overnight.
According to official information, Apple does not yet know about the problem, or at least has not commented on it. Fortunately, this is not a fatal problem; users are still scared that something inexplicable and unpredictable is happening to their mobile. Instead of the early release of iOS 17.1, Apple will most likely have to reach between patch updates again and pull out iOS 17.0.4, as he jokingly glossed on the X network Youtuber Aaron Zollo.
