On a flight from Tokyo to Frankfurt, Sidsel Søgaard Antonsen and the other passengers recently witnessed an unusual sight.
Out of the plane window they could see a bright red light. Søgaard Antonsen immortalized the spectacular sight, which could be seen from approximately 10,000 meters above Alaska, writes Danish TV 2.
It is not the first time such a light can be seen from the air. Last summer, the pilot Dustin Maggars witnessed something similar from the cockpit over the Pacific Ocean.
– We had no idea what we were looking at. We joked that we were in the middle of some kind of military exercise or some kind of alien invasion, he added CNN.

However, it turns out that there is no question of an alien invasion at all. Instead, the mysterious light originates from fishing vessels that use red LED lights to attract Pacific mackerel.
The Pacific mackerel likes the Pacific Ocean – and is particularly attracted to bright red light, writes Danish TV 2.
