– At first I thought it was a Porsche Taycan that came driving, but so fast that it wasn’t right. The whole thing was simply a bit mysterious, says Broom’s car expert Benny Christensen.
He was going out on an errand and saw the special Porsche as he turned off the slip road where he lives. Benny was left behind the unknown Porsche.
– I actually didn’t see that the car was foiled right away. Both the car and the foil were black, but four rough exhaust pipes confirmed that this was no eclectic Taycan. But a petrol car. This is another new Panamera. Or rather a facelift of the current model, Benny believes
Brighter and cleaner
That probably fits well. Today’s Panamera returned in 2017. It received a small facelift in 2021. Now it is ready for a major update. Sales of the new model will apparently start next year.
It is built on the same platform, but will have improved steering, more powerful, but still cleaner engines and, not least, a longer range in the e-hybrid version, which Porsche calls its rechargeable hybrid. Of course, the exterior also changes.
It is also expected that the interior will get a makeover and will be more similar to what is found in the Taycan.
– This is probably the last convulsion for the Panamera as a petrol car, believes Benny, who himself drives a Porsche Panamera. Thus, he is slightly above average interested in this model.
– The car was camouflaged over the entire rear, over the rear lights and over the rear side window. There was also foil around the headlights, which I think have a more square design than on today’s car.

Comes as an electric car
– When a completely new generation of the car is eventually launched, it will apparently be on an electric platform. It is likely that the car will also grow somewhat in physical size. We are probably talking about a full-size family car. This is to differentiate it from the Taycan, which is only a few centimeters shorter than the current Panamera. A new electric Cayenne will also come on the same platform, Benny believes.
The car he was driving behind was a petrol variant. It had the fuel hatch on the right side, but lacked the charging hatch on the left side.
– I got a little curious, so we drove up to the side of the car to see a little more. The driver, a rather young lady, looked at me. I gave a thumbs up and smiled, but basically just got a sour look in return. She clearly didn’t like us taking pictures of the car and because of the traffic on the E18 we didn’t get any pictures of it from the front either.
The car has Norwegian test plates, but the Norwegian importer is not aware of any test drives in Norway now.
– No, this is unknown to us, says Maren Helgestuen as press and PR manager at the Norwegian Porsche importer.
– But can you confirm that there will be an upgraded Porsche Panamera next year?
– Unfortunately, I cannot comment on that, concludes Helgestuen.
