Case mysterious pneumonia or pneumonia mycoplasma which is thought to be mycoplasma bacteria from China and which recently became shocking news, has been detected in Indonesia.
The existence of this mysterious pneumonia was confirmed by the Head of the Surveillance, Epidemiology and Immunization Section of the DKI Jakarta Health Service (Dinkes), Ngabila Salama in a statement to the media.
“(Mysterious pneumonia) is already in Jakarta,” said Ngabila via short message quoted from Kumparan, (5/12/2023).
This case is more susceptible to infection by children. Even so, there are no further details about what age children were exposed to the virus.
Pneumonia cases in children in Jakarta are indeed increasing in July 2023, but to detect mycoplasma pneumonia or not, there must be a PCR examination to find out the type of germ, virus or bacteria that causes it and carry out specific laboratory examinations.
“Several doctors, especially pediatricians, carry out PCR tests to find out the specific germs that cause pneumonia to provide specific therapy and prevent antibiotic resistance due to excessive use,” explained Ngabila.
Children who contract mycoplasma pneumonia complain of symptoms of shortness of breath because this disease infects the lungs.
You need to be careful about the transmission of mycoplasma pneumonia because the human body’s immunity has the potential to decrease during seasonal transitions like now.
For this reason, the Jakarta Health Office also appealed to the public, especially sick children, not to leave the house.
“Especially for those who are sick, you should not leave the house or wear a mask at school, work space, other indoor spaces and of course wash your hands regularly with running water and soap,” he said.
It is known that the increase in mycoplasma pneumonia cases in China in recent months has spread concern among the global community. This is because the Covid-19 outbreak first appeared in Wuhan, China.
Reporting from NHK, a senior researcher at the medical center for public health at Nanjing University, Wu Zhiwei, thinks that the factor behind the spike in mycoplasma pneumonia cases is that many people have become less immune to various infectious diseases after following the anti-Covid-19 protocol.
