Mysterious monolith in Canada smeared with graffiti

The appearance of metal steles in some parts of the world continues: after monoliths in the USA, Germany, Great Britain and the Netherlands, another has been discovered near the Canadian metropolis of Toronto. According to media reports, the more than three meters high structure has been standing on a lake shore near the megacity since shortly before the turn of the year. Shortly afterwards, vandals smeared them with graffiti, which in turn was wiped off by other people. The local authorities do not want to remove the stele for the time being, because it does not pose a security risk.

In mid-November, a first very similar monolith appeared in the US state of Utah. Then a number of steles were discovered worldwide – for example on the British Isle of Wight, in a nature area in the north of the Netherlands and in the Taunus community of Sulzbach in southern Hesse, near Neuschwanstein Castle or in Gränichen in the canton of Aargau. A gingerbread stele last appeared in San Francisco around Christmas. On the first stele in Utah, there was some evidence that an artist had it installed. Many consider it possible that the sensational find could attract imitators.
