Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin mention virus mysterious acute hepatitis transmitted through the intake of food that enters through the mouth.
“This virus (mysterious acute hepatitis) is transmitted through food intake, through the mouth,” Budi said in an official statement, Monday (9/5).
Thus, Budi suggested that people increase their awareness by taking preventive measures such as diligently washing their hands.
Furthermore, Budi said that the majority of this virus attacks toddlers and children under the age of 16.
“Attacking more under 16 years, more under 5 years,” he said.
The characteristics of people infected with this virus include having a bowel movement accompanied by fever.
Budi said checking Serum Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase (SGPT) and Serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT) needs to be done for people who are infected with this virus.
“It is checked for SGPT and SGOT, if it is above 100, it is checked.refer (referred) to the nearest health facility. SGPT and SGOT are normally in the 30s,” said Budi.
It is known that the Ministry of Health is currently coordinating and discussing with WHO and several countries in Europe to find out the cause of the mysterious disease.
“The conclusion is that it is not yet certain what virus is 100 percent causing this acute hepatitis. The research was carried out together so that the disease could be detected quickly,” he explained.
“It is most likely Adenovirus 41 but there are also many cases where there is no Adenovirus 41. The cause is still being sought,” he added.
