On the evening of March 6, the National Astronomical Research Institute (Public Organization) (S.D.R.) Ministry of Higher Education Science Research and Innovation (A.S.) revealed that in the early evening, a long flash of light was seen above the sky in many areas in the central, northern, eastern, western, northeastern, and southern regions of Thailand. The light appeared approximately two hours later. At approximately 7:13 p.m., the head appeared blue. The tail is green. Then it split into 2-3 parts and at around 8:21 p.m. it appeared again, orange in color, clearly visible to the naked eye, believed to be an “explosive meteor.”
Mr. Suparerk Khruhanon, Director of the Astronomical Academic and Communication Service Center, DDS, said that for the phenomenon that occurred, it is known that there were people who saw a bright light flashing in the sky like a shooting star 2 times in a row, the first time appearing at around 7:13 p.m. A long path stretched across the sky from east to west. The head is blue. The tail is green. At the same time, it split into 2-3 parts, with an orange head and a green tail. Then, about an hour later, it reappeared at about 8:21 p.m., with an orange color. Each time it was seen for about 10 seconds.
Mr. Suparerk further revealed that this event was clearly visible to the naked eye in many provinces scattered in almost every region of Thailand, such as Ratchaburi, Phetchaburi, Kanchanaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Ayutthaya, Chachoengsao, Bangkok, Nakhon Ratchasima, Prachinburi, Saraburi, Suphanburi, Lopburi, Nakhon San, Sisaket, Chumphon, Buriram, Chonburi, Samut Sakhon, Nakhon Pathom, Nakhon Nayok, etc. Yong Chaiyaphum Chiang Mai, etc. From the said information, it is believed that it may have been an exploding meteor. which is caused by small celestial objects like an asteroid or fragments thrown from impacts on the moon or Mars, etc., when such fragments move into the earth’s atmosphere Friction with particles in the atmosphere The heat was so high that it caught fire and was seen as a bright light streaking across the sky. What we call a meteor when the fragments are large The heat and light generated will also increase. If it were as bright as the brightness of a full moon or an explosion occurred in the air Astronomers call it a Bolide meteor.
Mr. Suparerk added that The meteor this time also appeared a different color. There are green, blue, orange, with factors affecting the color of the meteor. It depends on two factors: Molecular chemical composition of the surrounding air While crashing into the earth’s atmosphere at a very high speed Friction and burning occur. This causes the atoms of the meteor to emit light at different wavelengths, so we see the colors of the meteor appear in different ways. Each day, a large number of small objects pass through Earth’s atmosphere. We can see it as a meteor-like appearance. And there are still approximately 44-48.5 tons of meteorites falling to the earth per day, but most of the area is remote and uninhabited. Therefore cannot be seen. Meteors are therefore normal. and can be explained according to scientific principles
