Pediatrician from the Indonesian Pediatric Association (IDAI) Hanifah Oswari said there was a possibility of infection cases hmy apathyt whose cause is unknown, aka mysterious hepatitis, will become a global pandemic.
However, Hanifah reminded that the possibility is still small considering that currently cases of mysterious hepatitis are still relatively under control in a number of countries.
“We don’t know how fast the transmission is. But if we look at so many countries reporting at the same time, I think the potential for it to become a pandemic exists. But in Indonesia we don’t know how the next spread will be,” said Hanifah at the event. Newscast CNNIndonesia TV quoted on Sunday (8/5).
Hanifah said the finding of a mysterious acute hepatitis case was indeed an unusual finding of infection cases. The World Health Organization (WHO) also responded to this finding by assigning an Extraordinary Event (KLB) status to mysterious acute hepatitis cases that attack children in Europe, America, and Asia.
Hanifah continued, currently the government and IDAI are continuing to identify the cause of this mysterious hepatitis. He said it would take 1-2 weeks to know the results of further examinations such as examinations for Adenovirus and Hepatitis E.
“IDAI in this case does not do tracingbecause tracing the responsibility of the Ministry of Health,” he said.
Separately, the Secretary of the Directorate General of Public Health at the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said it was too early to assess the possibility of mysterious acute hepatitis becoming a new pandemic.
At the same time, Nadia reminded that the status of the pandemic is the authority of WHO and is determined globally, not only in certain countries.
“Whether it becomes a pandemic or not, it feels like it still takes quite a long time to be able to state this condition. Because if we compare the numbers with Covid-19, it is not as fast as the addition of Covid-19, and the transmission is not as fast as when we faced Covid-19,” he said. 19,” explained Nadia.
The Ministry of Health today recorded a new case of death suspected of being a mysterious hepatitis in Tulungagung Regency. The seven-year-old child reportedly experienced a number of symptoms including those of jaundice. Then fever, diarrhea, more concentrated urine and pale stools.
Meanwhile, the three previous death cases in DKI Jakarta were reported in an advanced stage when they arrived at the hospital. The three pediatric patients were aged two years, eight years and eleven years, respectively.
Responding to the findings, Nadia then advised parents to check their children to the nearest health facility if symptoms of jaundice, abdominal pain, vomiting, sudden diarrhea, dark tea-colored urine, pale bowel movements, seizures, and decreased consciousness were found.
