According to the president’s spokesman, he only visits a selected circle of people close to him, to whom Vondráček did not belong at the time of the visit. “This unauthorized entry is registered by the ÚVN as a so-called adverse event, which will be verified as part of the hospital’s internal investigation,” Zinke added.

The contents of the meeting could not be confirmed by the hospital because none of the medical staff was present.

“ÚVN also distances itself from the statements of President Radek Vondráček concerning the health condition of the President, information about the health status of the President was provided exclusively to those closest to him,” Zinke added.

The spokeswoman also asked that further official visits be arranged in advance with the president’s attending physician.

Shortly before his announcement on Thursday, Zeman’s wife Ivana also spoke publicly.
