Increasingly, in the schedule of confrontations of the Ukrainian Premier League, you can see matches between teams that at the end of the season solve completely different tasks from each other. Within the framework of the twenty-fifth round of the national championship, such a trend was noticeable in the game between the Transcarpathian “Minaj” and the Poltava “Vorskla”, provided that the players of Volodymyr Sharan are desperately fighting for survival, and the team of Viktor Skrypnyk still cannot decide whether he needs European cups in next football year.
However, what can we say about foreign moves, if the Poltava team could not even master the transfer within the country and the game three days later on the fourth. Vorskla had noticeable personnel problems, which was easy to note from the team’s application for this game, and those players who got a place on the field from the first minutes could not reveal their potential due to banal fatigue. But whether from the road, or from the efforts spent on the recent game against Dynamo (1:2), or from something else – it’s up to the coaching staff.
We watched the game of actually one team, but it also had problems with the construction of attacks, which also did not become news regarding the team of Vladimir Sharan. It was possible to sharpen up only due to long passes to free zones in the opponent’s half, but even the speedy Tverdokhleb did not always manage to cling to these passes of partners.
In a calm and unhurried pace, the teams played almost the entire first half. “Almost” because in the last seconds of stoppage time just before the break, Petko dexterously orientated himself better than others in the situation with the ball jumping over heads in the center of someone else’s free kick and shot low into the left corner. This goal was very important, as it left Skrypnyk’s team no choice but to go and win it back. And how will you do it when there is simply no strength to run?
I had to choose between positional offensives and the risk of not returning to the defensive in time, or just finishing this match as if nothing had happened. Vorskla chose something in between these two options, and as a result, we saw a team that cannot normally connect a couple of passes in the opponent’s half of the field.
And in defense, the guests also continued to make mistakes and once they even almost brought a goal into their own net, but the bar secured Isenko. True, Vorskla still did not go away from the second conceded goal, and by the end of the injury time of the second half, Tverdokhleb completed the serve from Buleza from the left flank with a head on the far side. So Poltava’s hopes for European cups have melted away, while Transcarpathians, meanwhile, remain in the game.
In the next round, Zakarpattia Mynay will host Dnipro-1 Dnipro, while Vorskla Poltava will play an away match against Lvov.
