The media considered, for example, that the title She said, released in 2012, is a “lesbian anthem” about a woman coming out. “But no matter what she says / She loves a girl / She feels on the edge,” she sings.

In another interview for Stubborn in 2008, the journalist asked him about bisexuality. And there again, Mylène Farmer remains secret and does not reveal anything about her sexuality: “It is in the domain of private life, but no of course, that does not shock me.”

Regarding the qualifier “gay icon” she explains to be wary of it: because “these are the ones that we burn first!”. Before adding: “I have the feeling of being privileged. It is a sensitive, sharp and avant-garde public. We have been following each other for many years, it is important for me. I also think that I share with gay audiences, as with other audiences for that matter, the feeling of being ‘different’, a feeling that causes difficulties in living in this world.”
