On April 29, 75-year-old Mykhailo Fomenko, a Ukrainian football player and former head coach of the national team of Ukraine, died.

During his football career, Fomenko played for “Zorya” and “Dynamo”. He played for Kyiv from 1972 to 1978. As part of the “white and blue” he became the champion of the USSR three times, won the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and the UEFA Super Cup

During his coaching career, the Ukrainian specialist led Dynamo, Metalist, Veres and other clubs.

Fomenko also led the national team of Ukraine from 2012 to 2016. He led the “blue and yellow” to Euro-2016. After participating in the tournament, he ended his career.

In 2023, Fomenko reported that he was fighting cancer.
