Myanmar’s Situation Worsens to Get Worse, Military Holds Air Raid on Villagers

NAYPYIDAW, KOMPAS.com – The Myanmar military is in the spotlight when it is held air raid to the village, and forced its inhabitants to flee in the forest.

Gunshots continued to be heard during the funeral of one of the 114 victims who died in a demonstration on Saturday (27/3/2021).

It will be remembered as the bloodiest day since the military junta staged a coup on February 1.

This was because the Myanmar authorities opened fire on civilians, including children aged five and 13 years.

Local media reported that around 3,000 people from Karen State crossed into Thailand to flee.

David Eubank, founder of the humanitarian organization Free Burma Rangers, explained that the military junta carried out air raids on villages in Karen.

Reported Sky News Sunday (28/3/2021), Eubank revealed that three villagers were killed with eight others injured.

Eubank said the attack from the fighter jets took place on Saturday at 20.30 local time, continuing until 02.00 the next day.

“There have been a number of air strikes. But what makes us frown is that there have not been attacks there in the last 20 years,” he said.

He said the military capacity of Burma, Myanmar’s old name, continued to increase because of the support of China and Russia.

“People are now taking shelter in the Pu No Day Valley, with a total of 8,000 people in hiding as violence has continued to increase since February 1,” he complained.

Eubank continued, Tatmadaw, as the military junta is called, does not only kill men, women and children in the city.

The Tatmadaw are now also attacking various ethnic groups in the mountain area, one of which is in Karen State.

“What I see right now is that the situation is getting worse,” said Eubank, commenting on the horror in the southeastern state of Myanmar.

Air raid it happened after the Karen National Union faction announced it had seized a military post near Thailand, and killed 10 people.

Correspondent Sky News in Southeast Asia, Siobhan Robbins, said that whatever the world calls for, the junta will ignore it.

Robbins submitted, every day the people of Myanmar continue to live under violence, where there are reports of citizens being beaten to the point of being shot.

The UN Security Council has condemned the violence, but has not maneuvered further, such as banning arms sales.

Because, in the hall there are Russia and China who are not only supporters of weapons, but also sympathetic to Myanmar politics.

Then with their status as permanent members of the UN Security Council, any resolution issued will be vetoed.

Robbins said China, Russia and Thailand sent their officials to attend the Tatmadaw military parade.

The death toll since the demonstration against the Tatmadaw coup on February 1 was estimated at more than 440 people.

However, it is believed that the number could be even higher because the monitoring group only included the number that was verified.
