His family said that a Myanmar woman, who was brain-dead after a police shot last week, died today (19th).

This is the first time in Myanmar, where protests against the military coup are taking place.

Miyate Te Kain, who died, was shot in the head during a coup protest held in the capital city of Naepido on the 9th and was taken to hospital. However, he fell into a state of brain death and has lived up to now as a life support device.

With the first deaths in Myanmar after the military coup, the protests that will take place today (19th) are likely to be affected.

Myanmar’s military took over the civilian government in a coup on the 1st, and in the process detained and prosecuted state adviser Aung San Suu Kyi, the de facto leader of Myanmar.

In response, the people of Myanmar are continuing their disobedience movement to protest the coup along with massive street protests for the second consecutive week.

In the meantime, the United States and Britain have also announced sanctions against Myanmar.
