The Minister of the Interior highlights the collaboration of the Government for a Comprehensive Strategy for Citizen Security
SANTO DOMINGO. – The Minister of the Interior and Police, Jesús Vásquez Martínez, affirmed that despite the economic limitations imposed by Covid 19, the Comprehensive Citizen Security Strategy “My Safe Country” continues at a good pace, after the success obtained in Cristo Rey.
He stated that the comprehensive actions of the Government under the leadership of President Luis Abinader, who has joined body and soul to restore peace and tranquility to the Dominican people, have borne fruit as demonstrated in the Cristo Rey pilot project.
“What we are doing in Cristo Rey we will continue to implement on the 14th of this month in San Francisco de Macorís and then we will continue in La Zurza, in La Puya de Arroyo Hondo and the La Fe expansion,” said Vásquez.
He assured that the Government is making the greatest effort to continue improving citizen security levels throughout the country.
“What I have said is that from the economic limitations that the country has, we are developing a strategy that has yielded extreme results,” he emphasized.
He stated that in recent days the site surveys have been being carried out and coordination work is underway so that this comprehensive strategy has the same effect that it has had in Cristo Rey, where the levels of delinquency and criminality.
He explained that for these purposes he has led several work meetings, as well as the Vice Ministers of the Interior and Police, with representatives of the organized groups of San Francisco de Macorís, neighborhood associations, the provincial leadership, and that there is great enthusiasm for that municipality recovers the tranquility.
He indicated that in this new effort they contemplate the reinforcement of security, greater police presence, more equipment for the National Police and a great rapprochement with community associations.
He highlighted the collaboration that the initiative of the people of San Francisco de Macorís and representative groups has received, who, although the plan has not started, have shown their willingness to collaborate so that the objectives are achieved.
