Prayagraj. Politician-turned-gangster Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf Ahmad were shot dead in Prayagraj on Saturday night. This incident happened when Atiq and Ashraf were being taken for medical. Weapons recovered from the scene
In the video footage of the incident, three assailants are seen shooting both the brothers and both fall on the ground as soon as the bullet hits them. The bodies of both riddled with bullets were taken from the spot. There is tension in the area after this sensational murder.
According to the police, three pistols, a motorcycle, a video camera and the logo of a news channel were found lying at the spot. It is suspected that the three attackers came posing as media persons and carried out the incident. He also had his identity card hanging around his neck.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while ordering a high-level inquiry into the incident, has given instructions to set up a three-member inquiry commission. At the same time, after the incident, prohibitory orders under section 144 have been implemented in all the districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were brought here for trial in connection with the 2005 Umesh Pal murder case.
Ahmed’s son Asad and one of his companions were killed in a police encounter in Jhansi on 13 April. Asad Ahmed’s body was buried at the Kasari Masari cemetery here on Saturday morning amid tight security, while the body of his accomplice Ghulam was buried at the Shivkuti cemetery.
