On France and in particular to Bordeaux, the Conflicts neighborhood have become commonplace. Of holidays rowdy works at times not recommended … In short, all contexts are admissible. Following our call for witnesses, we too received several stories incredible.
Starting with that of Maïana Fischer:
I quite regularly invite friends for convivial meals. There are never more than five or six of us. And be careful not to make too much noise because I know that the insulation in my building is not great. The other day, at 9:30 p.m., the downstairs neighbor started typing towards my house while we were having a meal, with no music. At 11 p.m. he went mad and tried to get home by kicking down the door and cursing at us. I was really very scared.
This young 22-year-old student is no longer comfortable at home. So much so that her downstairs neighbor demands that she “whisper” at her home early in the evening. “Because he gets up at night to go to work. But it’s not a life that happens. And as a student, I’m not sure what to do. My landlady hears what I say to her, but does nothing, ”continues the young woman.

Amazing stories, we have received more. That of Alban Daquino in particular, who is totally disillusioned.
I own a residence and one of the tenants regularly degrades the access portals because he refuses to pay for a new remote control. The union, on the other hand, only calls for funds to pay for repairs and refuses to do anything because the tenants “pay their rent”. Latest fact to date, this neighbor punctured me a tire because he received a letter from his owner asking him to stop his damage.
In another, all the more serious context, a young Spanish girl named Marìa Isabel Sanchez tells us that she is regularly touched by racist remarks when she asks her neighbors to lower the volume of their music.
Neighborhood mediation to the rescue
To face these conflicts, or at least to avoid going too far, the city of Bordeaux has set up a system of mediation. Some mediators are salaried, others are volunteers, but all have received training in this area.
This mediation system is divided into three stages. The first is making an appointment on the part of a Bordeaux resident. The second: “a mediator receives the persons concerned separately. These interviews are confidential ”.
Finally the last: “if each party wishes, a meeting is organized. During this meeting, the solutions found are the work of the parties themselves, with the help of the mediator ”.
A system which, however, did not allow Lucile Abeille to regain calm and serenity on her side.
The house next to mine, following a fire in 2016, falls into ruin. Despite pressure from my insurance and the town hall, nothing was done. The owner does not live there, he lets the house collapse, dragging mine down. The problem with neighborhood quarrels is that despite a mediation service, nothing is ever done, no sanction for the noise at night, or even for endangering other residents and their property.
However, it is always possible to hire a lawyer specializing in neighborhood disputes. “But the goal is not to get there” regrets Maïana Fischer.
