My letter to Santa Claus

Why would children only have the right to write their letter to Santa Claus? I do not agree ! I too have wishes. I too want to write to Papa Noel. And as I have been offered the opportunity with this platform, I am taking it.

Dear Santa,
As you know, I was particularly good this year (note: like every year). So, I allow myself to interrupt you for a few minutes to ask you to read these few lines. I know you are particularly busy these days, and I admit that I do it a bit in “last minute” mode. But me too, I was quite taken until then! It’s okay, you’re not the center of the world either! Everything does not revolve around you! I beg your pardon, I got a little carried away. Please understand that the year has not been easy. We all can’t wait for 2021 to come to the fore and this rotten year to become a bad memory.

The gold medal in singles for Roger

That being said, how can we not start with the most important? Father Christmas, above all, I would like 2021 to be broadly the opposite of 2020. A year full of sweetness, good news and, of course, more brilliant tennis matches than the others. With, at all these matches without exception, a delirious crowd that smashes the applaudimeter (between the points) at the slightest opportunity.
Now I can go into the details. Regarding the players I love and who are close to the end, like Roger Federer, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Andy Murray and many others, could you spoil them with, if it is their last, a very good season? without injury but with titles? Like the gold medal in singles for Roger at the Olympic Games, a second title at Bercy for Jo and why not (let’s be crazy!) A third Wimbledon for Andy and all the Brits who, for once, would be inundated with happiness. They need it, Santa.

For Rafael Nadal, please, preserve his physique, so that he can continue to string together titles on clay. A 14th Roland-Garros is essential because, a few years ago, I predicted that he would win 15. So that would be for him and for me. But for him I have a few other requests. Could you allow him to win the Masters 1000 in Miami, as well as the one in Paris? And finally – afterwards, I stop with him! – let him win the Masters. You understand that I am a Rafa fan and that I would like him to be the GOAT. But for that, he must win everything and he misses these three tournaments.
For our French, I also have some requests. I imagine you saw that Lucas Pouille is working hard to get back to his level. For that, he would have to be rid of his shoulder worries and return his confidence to where it was when he brought the point of victory in the Davis Cup final in 2017.

You will see, he is great to watch play

I thank you in advance for what you have already done for the son of the butcher from Metz. Ugo Humbert delivered a very good season in 2020, but could you make sure that his progression continues? Please help him snatch some great Grand Slam results. He’s a really good guy and he deserves to make the Top 10. Another good guy is the other Hugo. Gaston. I know we are a little confused, but he is Hugo with an “H”. You know, he’s the one who brought life to Roland-Garros with his cushioning and his superb matches against Stan Wawrinka and Dominic Thiem. If he could get into the Top 50, that would be really great. You’ll see, he’s great to watch.

Finally, sorry to repeat, but if only you could get the schedule back to normal ASAP and all the tournaments can take place …. the players can travel and the tennis industry be healthy and vigorous again. May all the people who depend on this sector be able to fully resume their activity.

Thank you Santa Claus. Happy holidays to you too and don’t forget to work on your slice backhand, I have some info that it wouldn’t be quite up to par …
